At Amon Hen, the Hill of Sight, Frodo puts on the Ring and sees across vast distances to Barad-dûr, where the Eye of Sauron searches for him. Here the Fellowship is finally broken as Boromir attempts to take the Ring, dies defending Merry and Pippin, and Frodo escapes across the river with Sam. This pivotal location marks the end of the Fellowship's unity and the beginning of three separate journeys that will define the rest of the trilogy.
