Lacock Abbey – Warming Room
About This Harry Potter Filming Location
Founded as an Augustinian nunnery in 1232, Lacock Abbey is a rare survivor of medieval monastic architecture. Its 13th‑century cloisters encircle a grassy garth and are among the best‑preserved in England. The slender vaulted walkways once allowed nuns to move between the church and their private rooms without breaking silence; today they offer a timeless sense of peace. After the Dissolution the abbey was converted into a country house, but the cloisters remain largely intact and still exude a sense of antiquity. Their stone pillars and dim arches attracted filmmakers seeking authentic Hogwarts corridors.
