Created by Charles Hamilton in the 1750s, this artificial lake was designed to appear natural, winding through the landscape like a serpent, hence its name. The lake's strategic placement allows for breathtaking views of all major follies, including the Five Arch Bridge, Temple of Bacchus, and Gothic Tower. In Bridgerton Season 3, the lake played host to Hawkins' hot air balloon demonstration, where members of the ton gathered for this spectacular event while engaging in their usual promenading and social interactions. The lake's tranquil waters reflect the changing seasons and architectural features, creating an ever-changing tableau of beauty. The circular walk around the lake was specifically designed to offer visitors a series of carefully composed views, making it perfect for both filming and tourism.
